Why Your Great Dane Needs Specific Pet Insurance

Great Danes are affectionate, gentle giants — but their size brings unique health challenges. Pet insurance helps cover diagnostics, treatments and surgery so you can focus on giving them the best care.

Common health considerations for Great Danes include:

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat/GDV)
  • Heart conditions (e.g., dilated cardiomyopathy)
  • Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) risk in large breeds
  • Arthritis and mobility issues
  • Eye conditions (entropion, cataracts)
  • Hypothyroidism

  • Choose the cover level that fits your Dane and budget:

  • Accidental Plan — $5,000 annual limit (injury-only)
  • Classic Plan — $10,000 annual limit (accidents + illnesses; hereditary sub-limit applies)
  • Deluxe Plan — $20,000 annual limit (accidents + illnesses; higher hereditary sub-limit plus dental illness cap)
  • You can claim up to 80% of eligible bills (after your chosen excess of $100 / $200 / $300), see any licensed vet in Australia, and claim online—most valid claims are typically paid the next business day once we have what we need.

Important: Waiting periods, limits, sub-limits and exclusions apply. Pre-existing conditions are generally not covered. Always read the current PDS & FSG to decide if the product is right for you.
